ASEP Continuing Education Lecture: The NSCP Geotechnical Engineering Provisions Explained

ASEP Continuing Education Summit 2012 invites you to a lecture on:
What: CEL-02: The NSCP Geotechnical Engineering Provisions Explained
When: June 9, 2012
Time: 8:30-10:00 AM
Where: La Breza Hotel, QC
Who: Resource Speaker – Mark Albert H. Zarco, Ph.D.

About the lecture:

Objectives:
      1.      Give a general overview of the Geotechnical Engineering provisions contained in the NSCP;
      2.      Provide a detailed explanation of new or revised provisions in the following specific areas:
a.       Excavations and Fills
b.       Foundation Investigations
c.       Allowable foundations and lateral  pressures
d.       Foundation construction in seismic zone 4
e.       Special  foundation , slope stabilization and material construction

In particular, a participant will learn about the following specialized geotechnical engineering provisions given in the NSCP:
a.      Protection of property adjacent to excavations;
b.      Selection and compaction requirements for fill materials;
c.      General guidelines for determining the recommended number and depth of boreholes  for    a subsurface investigation;
d.      Identification and mitigation of problematic (expansive, compressible and liquefiable) soils;
e.      Minimum information contained in subsurface investigation reports;
f.       Recommended geotechnical (Laboratory and Field) and Geophysical Tests;
g.      Determination of allowable foundation and lateral pressures from geotechnical site    investigation and lateral earth pressures;
h.      Geotechnical investigations and foundations systems in Zone 4; and
i.       General provisions for ground improvement and special foundation systems.
